Even though this was quite a while ago, I think his message was timely and adequately sharp. Mclaren and Bell have been prodded on numerous occasions to consider the weight of their errors. It seems like some of their motives are holy, but there's a recklessness with the word of God that should be called out.

Had Mark Driscoll gone further in his critique, I believe he would have been in sin. I think he showed quite a bit of self control and conviction in all that he said and I believe the strength of his words matched the severity of the situation.

Hello,
I just found your blog here, and have experienced miscarriage in much the way you describe. I was at 16 weeks when I saw a still image of my child on songram. So beautiful was the image that the sonographer called the baby "perfect." I noticed no blipping heartbeat and told her the baby was gone. It was crushing to me, we'd had one miscarriage before and four beautifully born babies. This was so hard. I eventually had to do something, and a law has been passed in Kansas that if a woman is treated for miscarriage in a hospital, she has to be informed of her right to the baby's remains so that she can plan a burial (this is because I just didn't say anything, and wanted really to have a burial).

I am sorry for your loss, and know that even though it's been a while, you still may miss your little one. I know it took me a while, and I believe grief of my Christian James was a gift God gave me. It reminded me that we were not created for seperation, but were meant to be together. Sin in this world caused death for us all, and that causes a large gulf that our very hearts know should not be. Thank the Father that His Son died and rose again, so that we will unite once more with those we have been torn from in death.

Blessings!

I'm not entirely sure you got the point of what I wrote.

The fact of Bentley's marital collapse is certainly not the sole reason to conclude that these events were counterfeit or demonic...

Todd and his co-laborers had built much of the revival on error and the dissolution of his marriage is certainly not the only evidence of horrifyingly bad fruit. He and others told visitors to turn their brains off to any skeptical thought. The ONLY person who deserves that sort of infallible authority is God through his holy scripture.

I agree that there are definitely cases where a spouse refuses to support their husband/wife's ministry. This doesn't necessarily seem to be the case with Todd Bentley (that I'm aware of). The reality is that Todd is pursuing separation and divorce with his wife. No matter what way you look at this, its not a good thing. EVEN IF Todd were pursuing a divorce because he wanted to choose his ministry over an "unsupportive" wife, he would be in grave error.

Please read the following passages in scripture and tell me that you think that divorce in the case of an unsupportive wife is justified (this is assuming that your assumption about their marriage is correct)

Mark 10
Matthew 5
Matthew 19
Luke 16
1 Corinthians 7

Even so, when Jesus speaks of the apostasy and betrayal that is to happen in the end times, he often mentions mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters, but to my knowledge he never mentions that Christian husbands will turn on their wives or vice-versa.

If what you describe has been your own personal experience, please do not bend scripture to fit your own life.

This quote got me as well when I first read Orthodoxy. I recall feeling an almost exuberant tinge rise up within me, almost as if I had just read the punch line to some wonderful and complex joke.

Who knows, though.

King David’s wife did not support him fully, Job’s wife as welll but so have the unsupportive wives of many other faithful Christian persons including John Bunyan now too. For that matter neither did Jesus own family now too.

Mark 3:33 And He replied, Who are My mother and My brothers? 34 And looking around on those who sat in a circle about Him, He said, See! Here are My mother and My brothers; 35 For whoever does the things God wills is My brother and sister and mother!

if you know of any particular needs that I may be unaware of that surely need some much needed funds, please do let me know.

Good question. I'll break this down into a few options. Truth be told, there's a vast number of individuals and organizations that have a true need for support. The only thing I can offer is some suggestions.

On a personal level, you can look around in your community and ask God to illuminate a specific person who is in either explicit or implicit financial need, and give the lump sum of money to them. Additionally, you can create a greater impact by teaming up with 2 or more people who are willing to do the same thing. Look for the people who are flat broke and have a tangible need to eat and receive shelter. Perhaps its someone who is having a hard time paying bills, or has just encountered an unexpected expense that has really put them out.

On a local level, you could give the money as an offering to your church, or any number of local organizations that are providing essential services to people in need. In Seattle, my suggestions would be New Horizons street youth ministries, Bread of Life Mission, Union Gospel Mission, The IRC for refugees in King County etc...

On a national level, you could give to America's Second Harvest hunger relief, American Red Cross, American Land Conservancy, etc....

On a global level....man, where do I start?

First, if you know of a missionary who is engaged in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide, give them your money.

Do you have a heart for people in Israel? - Magen David Adom

Do you have a heart for Palestinians? - Palestinian Red Crescent

Do you have a heart for people in Darfur? - Safe Darfur Coalition

Are you outraged by the injustice of child sex tourism? - World Vision Child Sex Tourism Prevention Project

This is by no means an exhaustive list of all the people and places that could use your support. Be creative with how you give and think about what would make the most impact.

Colin,

I agree wholeheartedly and as I am no longer a Rep. nor a Dem. I will support Christ's Kingdom with my ESP for His Glory, hehe.

I will be seeking His will through prayers as to where the funds should go, and if you know of any particular needs that I may be unaware of that surely need some much needed funds, please do let me know. God gives us wealth in this nation, so that we may Glorify Him with it in our not idolizing/coveting it.

Thank you for offering up this idea and thanks for actually doing it, as so many think it's a "good idea" but when the cash arrives in hand, their faith is tested and they may think "Oh but I have these bills" but you are going through with it and that is a great testament to your faith in our Lord in taking care of His flocks needs.

Your brother in Christ,
